Mercedes 500 E (1992) AMG: Used cars

Mercedes 500 E with rare AMG parts for sale

The Mercedes 500 E is the ultimate German power sedan and has been a sought-after classic for years. This 500 is a real highlight for several reasons!

The Mercedes 500 E is a real wolf in sheep’s clothing. While connoisseurs immediately recognize the former top model by its flared fenders, most passers-by probably think the 500 is an ordinary Mercedes. But when it was presented in 1990, the 500 E was a real statement!

To this day, it is THE German power limousine par excellence and has long since ceased to be an insider tip. In recent years, the prices for used Mercedes 500 E have only known one direction, and that was steeply upwards. The example shown here by the Mercedes specialist “Marc Luca Automobile GmbH” is a real highlight in several respects.

Early model with 326 hp

The W 124 was built in 1992, which means that it is a 500 E, an early model. Let’s remember: In 1990, the top model came onto the market as the 500 E, the 5.0-liter V8 with 32 valves, known as the M 119 E 50, produced 326 hp and 480 Nm, which were delivered to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission.

The first owner opted for option 260: elimination of the rear lid type identification.

From the end of 1992, the power was reduced by six to 320 hp, and as part of the model update, the 500 E was renamed E500 Nowadays, in connection with the 500 E, it is often mentioned that the sedan was Porsche was assembled in Zuffenhausen, for the simple reason that the car with its 5.6 centimetre flared fenders did not fit through the Mercedes production line.

The 500 offered in the beautiful color “Bornit Metallic” is a German car with a fully verifiable history. According to the seller, all invoices and receipts are available and the service book is well maintained.

Only 89,000 kilometers

The Benz makes an excellent impression in the photos. Damage? None! The black leather interior does not even show any notable signs of wear. This may also be due to the fact that the 500 has only been driven 89,050 kilometers in the last 22 years, a very low mileage for a 500 E.

The beautiful AMG Aero III rims are extremely sought after these days and accordingly expensive.

But the real highlight is the original AMG conversion. In 1992, the first owner brought his inconspicuous 500 to Affalterbach as a new car to give it a little makeover. An AMG sports suspension with a subtle lowering, a speedometer with a 300 km/h scale and the AMG Aero III rims, which are extremely sought after today, were installed. Compared to a standard model, the 500 E looks much sportier, but still doesn’t look too over the top.

The 500 is expected to cost just under 100,000 euros

So let’s summarize briefly: A Mercedes 500 E from the first series is on offer in an attractive color combination, with a complete history, a low mileage and a rare, contemporary AMG conversion. Even laypeople can conclude that this W 124 is no bargain. With a price of 97,900 euros, it is one of the most expensive 500s on the market, but certainly also one of the best. And a new MOT, a fresh service and new tires are included.
