The Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 Evo II is resurrected as the HWA EVO

Mercedes’ unknown racing partner HWA has done a resto mod of the DTM killer Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 Evo II.

You’re probably familiar with AMG, which helped Mercedes build racing cars and sharpened standard cars for decades. When Mercedes bought AMG in 1999, Hans Werner took Aufrecht (Aufrecht stands for the A in AMG) and formed a new company, naming it after his own initials – HWA.

Just like AMG, HWA is based in Affalterbach in Germany.

For 25 years, HWA has been an expert resource in the automotive industry. They have help with the development of car models, for example Apollo and an upcoming model from De Tomaso. HWA has also developed racing cars and Safety Cars for Mercedes.

Now it’s time for HMW to launch its first own (well) car model – the HWA Evo – which is a heavily rebuilt Mercedes 190 (W201). They are based on the original bodywork, but the front end has been redesigned to enable better road holding, higher crashworthiness and accommodate a modern petrol engine.

The original car has 17-inch wheels, but to give a slightly more modern look, the HWA Evo has 19-inchers. The engine is a six-cylinder twin-turbo V6 that was heavily rebuilt by HWA.

HWA plans to sell 100 HWA Evos for 714,000 euros excluding VAT each. This means a Swedish price of around SEK 10,000,000.
