5 million euros worth of open Bugatti Chiron looks like this

Bugatti never wanted to make an open Chiron, but it was made.

Not under the name Chiron Roadster, but under the name W16 Mistral. With a different appearance it is disrespectful to say this is a converted Chiron. But you and I also know that this is basically the case. The engine and interior are largely similar to the mighty coupe from Molsheim

The Bugatti Veyron was available as a coupe and as a roadster. With the Chiron the French didn’t think about it. This hypercar would be available purely as a coupe. They have somewhat kept their word. Because indeed, a Chiron Roadster has never seen the light. However, the Bugatti W16 Mistral comes darn close.

The advantage of such a special model: you can charge more pegs for it. Bugatti only builds 99 copies of the Mistral. While the Chiron starts at around 3.5 million euros, the Mistral is available for no less than 5 million. Smart guys at Bugatti. The Mistral is the first Bugatti roadster since the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse from 2012.

Until now they were mainly static pictures. The Mistral was spotted occasionally in the wild and those picas rightly earned the coveted Car Whiz Spot of the Week title. Bugatti is now sharing photos of a driving W16 Mistral for the first time. What a picture.

In the press release, Bugatti emphasizes that the Chiron was never intended to be a red star. Simply sticking a body kit on the Chiron and calling it Mistral was not an option, according to the French car brand. Serious R&D had to be done to come up with a safe and good construction for the roadster.

The Chiron family was never intended to have a roadster model. That’s why we had to start afresh when we decided to build the W16 Mistral, the ultimate tribute to our rich roadster history and our legendary W16 engine. A Chiron without a roof might be an amazing car for many others, but it wouldn’t meet the uncompromisingly high standards that Bugatti adheres to

So work really hard. Because not only must acceleration in the 1,600 hp Mistral be extremely safe and comfortable, Bugatti also did not want to make any concessions at top speed. The Mistral can therefore run at 420 km/h. This makes it one of the fastest roadsters in the world. A title that suits a brand like Bugatti. Well done! Now let’s enjoy the pictures with this peanut butter spec Bugatti W16 Mistral…

    What a monstrosity.

I think Bugatti’s Marketing Department is rolling on the floor laughing about how they manage to sell something so ugly for so much money.

Do you also get something like a tarpaulin as a kind of roof?

Or did it become too expensive?

  4. pomouk say

Too bad about that head-on collision just before the photo shoot.

  5. Motomoto say

With this type of car you should be able to see that it is exclusive and expensive. Beauty is completely irrelevant. Such a pity…
